Stone freezing and its preventation

     Stone freezing usually occur in the north place where the weather is cold, when the stone pore absorb enough water, and the temperature come down to 0℃ below, the water in the stone pore start to freezing, the cubage expand, when the ice expand force is bigger than the stone structure force, then the stone will break.

     Usually, the material follow the principal of “expand when hot, contract when cold“ while the water is opposite different, when the temperature is 4℃, the water’s density is the maximum, while the temperature is 4℃ to 0℃, the water density become less, experiment prove, when 1m3 water freeze to ice, its cubage become 1.1m3, so when the water enter into the stone pore and become the ice, the cubage become bigger, so to expand the stone pore, and stone absorb more water, the pore is expanded to further bigger, step by step, finally cause the stone breakage.

     How to prevent this kind of stone breakage, the reason is the water, so we just find some solution and prevent the water to enter into the stone pore, like stone care material, then it will ok.
