When the surface is stained, it is better to use some light corrosive, like lemon juice or vinegar, pay attention not to use soap and soda poder to scrub on the marble, when use lemon juice, must pay attention too.  The stay time had better not over 1 minute, if necessary could repeat the operation, and then clean and dry it.

      Regarding to the stain from cosmetic, tea, tobacco, could apply Hydrogen peroxide  water, make it stay on stain for 2 hours, and then clean and dry.

      For oil stain, could use ethanol (alcohol), acet or lighter oil to rub, and then clean and dry, if the marble furniture is burn by burning cigarette head, could ask specialist to repair.

      In all, the marble countertop had better to clean periodically, use warm, damp cloth dipped with gentle detergent to clean and then use clean cloth to dry
Of course, for countertop with slightly scratch, could use specialized marble detergent and care liquid, if scratch is severious, could use steel ball to scrub, and then use electricity polisher to polish it.
